Summer is hanging on by a thread as we make our way through August, which means it’s the perfect time to throw an end of the season bash! Gather up your family, friends, and neighbors, and get ready for the party of the year, right in your backyard. Whether you’re a party expert or have never thrown a party in your life, we’re giving you the tips and tricks you need to successfully host a backyard bash.
Pick A Theme: This may seem a bit silly, but it really does help. Picking a theme makes everything come together cohesively. It can be as broad or as specific as you’d like, but having a theme will inspire you and your guests. For example, say you decide to go with a beach theme. You can make your decorations and food island themed, ask guests to wear Hawaiian shirts, even have a coastal inspired cocktail. Whatever theme you decide to go with, it will make your party decisions moving forward much easier.
Food Frenzy: It can be challenging to know how much food to prepare for a party, especially if you aren’t sure how many people are actually coming. Not to mention, it can get pretty pricey. To make this easier on you, primarily focus on the ‘main course’, whether that’s burgers, hot dogs, ect., and ask your guests to bring a side or a dessert. If every person brings a dish to share, there will be more than enough food and everyone will have at least one thing they like. This also helps guests who have allergies or special dietary habits ensure there will be something available they can eat.
Have A Backup Plan: Poor weather is inevitable, no matter how hard we plan. Always have some kind of plan in case it decides to rain on your parade. Have a tent on standby, or clean up your garage or basement as a secondary location. The last thing you want to do is cancel your party after you’ve spent so much time working on it.
Activities For Kids: If you’re going to have kids at your event, make sure you have something for them to do. The last thing any parent wants is for their child to be miserable while they are trying to have fun. Everyone knows that if a kid isn’t happy, no one is happy. Set up arts and crafts, have games, maybe rent a moonbounce or waterslide. Give them something to do to keep them busy while their parents enjoy their time at your party, and then everyone will be happy.
